True to its name, Farfalla, the Italian word for ‘butterfly’, this hanging lamp floats and flutters. The long, slender casing is carved from a single piece of Bianco Carrara marble, containing an LED lamp, exuding a delicate, soft light through the near-transparent stone. Farfalla was designed by Italian architect and interior designer Marco Carini and can be used either as a single piece or in a combination of three, suspended at various heights to accentuat. Like a cloud of migrating butterflies, the beauty of the Farfalla light is accentuated when it is used in a configuration of three, angled and oriented depending on the effect you wish to achieve. Urano is a sphere-like lamp created by hollowing out a cube of Bianco Carrara marble. The deceptive simplicity, the purity of form and the sense of suspension all contribute to making Urano seem more like a celestial body than a lamp.It all starts with a block of marble. “I wanted to stretch the marble, making the profile as thin as possible, right down to almost 4 millimetres so that the eye sees just the finest of edges, almost like a veil. Then, gradually, moving away from the rim, the marble becomes thicker. The choice of marble is crucial. It must be pure, with not a single deformity or impurity.” Made in Italy.
